TERRELL, Texas — Westbound Interstate 20 was reopened approximately two hours after a vehicle crashed down a bridge embankment on Thursday afternoon near mile marker 495.
The crash was reported at approximately 12:45 p.m. at the bridge over Big Brushy Creek on Interstate 20 near mile marker 495.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Kyle Bradford, a woman was traveling eastbound on Interstate 20 when she veered around a guardrail, drove in the median, and crashed down a bridge embankment. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The woman was flown by CareFlite helicopter to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas, in serious condition and unconscious, stated Bradford. Her current condition is unknown.
The westbound lanes of the highway were closed to land the CareFlite medical helicopter.
