Both lanes of eastbound traffic on US Hwy 80 are closed just past FM 460 due to an accident involving a jackknifed 18-wheeler. The accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, March 19, and the Forney Fire Department estimated the roadway will re-open around 10:40 a.m.
Westbound traffic was not affected by the accident. Eastbound traffic was forced to exit at FM 460 and traveled along the service road and re-entered the highway on the Broad Street exit.
The tractor-trailer was hauling two trailers and appeared to make contact with the bridge which tangled it up, causing the tractor-trailer to jackknife. According to Forney Fire Department Chief Rick Townsend, there were no injuries at the scene and the accident only involved the tractor-trailer.
