KAUFMAN, Texas — Kaufman County will celebrate 175 years since its inception in 1848 with proclamations and a toast, among other celebratory activities at the county's Poor Farm.
Celebrations start Tuesday morning, October 10, 2023, at the Commissioners Court meeting at 9 a.m. There, commissioners will issues proclamations on the 175th anniversary of the county and kick off several different events.
Several local officials are also expected to read proclamations of their own.
At 6:15 p.m., all are welcome to the Kaufman County Poor Farm where guest will toast to 175 years and a time capsule will be buried.
On Saturday, October 14, 2023, the county will have floats in the Kaufman Harvest Festival parade as well as memorabilia in Heritage Park on the Square.
The Kaufman County Poor Farm is located at 3948 South Houston in Kaufman.
