KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has placed Kaufman County under a Tornado Watch and a Flash Flood Watch. Short term, portions of Kaufman County are also under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has placed Kaufman County under a Tornado Watch and a Flash Flood Watch. Short term, portions of Kaufman County are also under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning.

The Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1 p.m.

“Individuals in and near the Tornado WATCH need to remain alert for rapidly changing weather conditions!” stated the NWS. “The main severe storm hazards will be damaging winds, large hail, tornadoes and flash flooding!”

The Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 p.m.

“Very heavy rainfall over a relatively short period of time will result in areas of flash flooding today,” stated the NWS. “Be alert for rapidly rising water. If you encounter flooding, remember to Turn Around, Don't Drown!”

“Very heavy rainfall rates associated with an incoming area of low pressure will bring a threat for flash flooding today,” stated the NWS. “This activity is expected to rapidly clear the region later this afternoon and evening. Additional thunderstorms appear possible overnight, but the widespread flash flood threat looks to end by this evening.”

At 9:15 a.m., the NWS issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for portions of eastern Kaufman County until 9:45 a.m. Radar indicated half dollar sized hail.
