In a landmark achievement for Forney High School’s soccer program, the Lady Rabbits secured their first-ever berth in the UIL 6A Regional Finals by defeating Tomball 2-0 in Friday’s semifinal match at Belton Tiger Stadium.

The game commenced with an early disallowed goal for Forney, but the team quickly regained composure. Junior midfielder Kyleigh Johnson broke the deadlock in the first half, providing the Lady Rabbits with a lead they would not relinquish.

Forney’s defensive unit, featuring standouts such as Zeniyah Russell, Olivia Foresman, Willow Smith, Brooklynn Sosa, and Ryleigh Wilson, delivered a commanding performance. Goalkeeper Cinnamon Hurst recorded another clean sheet, thwarting all of Tomball’s offensive efforts.

The midfield trio of Johnson, Delilah Rico, and Devyn Gee controlled the tempo, effectively linking defense and attack. Forwards Madalynn Putnam, Kylie Williams, Addison Smith, and freshman Annabelle Vazquez consistently pressured Tomball’s backline. In the second half, Willow Smith’s precise assist set up Vazquez, who doubled Forney’s advantage and sealed the victory.

This historic win propels the Lady Rabbits to an impressive 22-1 record and marks a significant milestone for the program, surpassing previous deep playoff runs in the 5A division. The team now prepares to face Wylie East in the Regional Finals, with aspirations of continuing their unprecedented postseason journey.

Reflecting on the team’s success, Vazquez expressed gratitude:

“I’m so proud of our team for how hard we’ve worked this season. The coaches—Coach Williamson, Coach Wilkerson, and Coach Bailey—have pushed us to be our best, and their support has made all the difference. And a special thanks to Doc J and our trainers—they do an amazing job keeping us healthy and strong so we can play our best. As a freshman, it’s been an irreplaceable experience learning from my teammates and coaches. We know Wylie East is a tough opponent, but we’re ready for the challenge and excited for the opportunity to keep our season going.”

As the Lady Rabbits advance, the Forney community rallies behind them, hopeful that this remarkable season will culminate in a state championship.
