FORNEY, Texas — Recent record rains have forced the closure of Malloy Bridge Road and Kaufman County Road 125 until further notice, according to officials.
Earlier today, the City of Seagoville announced the closure of Malloy Bridge Road between Seagoville and Forney. The roadway will remain closed until further notice.
County Road 125 in Kaufman County has also been closed due to high water, Kaufman County Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Howie told inForney.com.
February 2018 became the record wettest February for the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex with 11.31 inches of rain, surpassing the previous record of 7.4 inches in 1997.
February's record rainfall propelled the winter months' rainfall total to 16.72 inches, from December 2017 until February 2018, which is tied for the wettest winter with the 1931-32 winter.
In February, Terrell measured 6.11 inches, according to the National Weather Service.
"Another low pressure system and cold front will interact with Gulf moisture Saturday through Monday to bring a chance of showers and thunderstorms to all of North and Central Texas," stated the NWS.
The NWS has also issued a Flood Warning for the Trinity River near Rosser, Texas, from Friday evening into Saturday evening. The flood stage on the river at that point is 31 feet and is expected to be above flood stage by late Friday, crest at 32 feet by Saturday after midnight, and return below flood stage by late Saturday morning.
At 31 feet, minor flooding is anticipated for nearby farm and ranch land.
