FORNEY, Texas — A man was flown to a Dallas-area hospital after an ATV accident and brief search early Saturday morning.
Just after midnight, multiple agencies were dispatched to the area of Farm-to-Market (FM) 741 and FM 548 near Forney High School to search for the ATV accident.
Several people who were with the victim at the time of the crash were able to carry and load the victim into an all-terrain vehicle side-by-side and bring him to the Forney High School parking lot where they met with first responders.
A CareFlite medical helicopter, which had been launched on air standby, landed in the Forney High School parking lot where the victim, described by officials as a 19-year-old male, was loaded and transported to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, in stable condition with head and face injuries described as non-life threatening.
Officials say the man was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident when the ATV he was riding rolled on top of him.
The Forney Fire Department, Forney Police Department, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Precinct 2 Constable’s Office aided in the search for the accident victim.
Forney Police Department dispatchers coordinated with the 911 caller, who was with the victim, and police officers and firefighters to use lights and sirens to give a point of reference so the victim could be located. Officia
ls say the accident likely happened in the wooded area south and east of the Fox Hollow neighborhood and Monitor Boulevard.
