On June 25, with temperatures in the upper 90's, the Forney Fire Department responded to a fully consumed house fire at 347 West Trinity Street in Forney, Texas. The Forney Fire Department received the 911-call at approximately 3:27 p.m.
Crews removing brush nearby noticed the fire and called 911. By the time fire crews were on scene, said Forney Fire Department Chief Townsend, it was a defensive fire, we were working to contain it. According to Townsend, the home was occupied but the residents were not home at the time of the fire.
Nearly two hours after the fire began, strong winds fueling the fire caused fire crews to continue working to extinguish flames in what was left of the attic of the home.
The Mesquite Fire Department and Terrell City Fire Department also responded for mutual aid in battling the blaze. Volunteers with the Forney Fire Department were also at the location and volunteers with the Terrell VFD were on standby.
According to a neighbor, the home was reportedly over 100 years old and originally belonged to the Pinson family of Forney. Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire.
