More than 4,000 suffer power outages overnight in Kaufman County

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — More than 4,000 people were without power overnight due to severe weather and high winds which caused downed power lines across Kaufman County.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — More than 4,000 people were without power overnight due to severe weather and high winds which caused downed power lines across Kaufman County.

As of 3:52 a.m., Oncor was reporting 1,885 customers are without power with an estimated restoration time of approximately 11:30 a.m., depending on your area.

Approximately 800 of those outages are reported in Forney with restoration times estimated between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.

In Terrell, approximately 400 are also without power with an estimated restoration time of 9 a.m. and another 400 are without power in the Kemp area with an estimated restoration of 8 a.m.

In Crandall and Kaufman, 170 and 25 customers were affected by the outages, respectively, which were expected to be restored by 11:30 a.m.

As of 1 a.m., Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative (TVEC) was reporting more than 2,000 outages for its customers in Kaufman County.

At 1:40 a.m., TVEC reported power restoration to 239 members in Winners’ Circle and along Farm-to-Market (FM) 2932 and County Road (CR) 214. At 2 a.m., TVEC reported 575 members’ power was restored in the area of Helms Trail and FM 1641.

At 3:20 a.m., TVEC also reported the restoration of power to another 1,065 members northeast of Kaufman in the area of FM 2728, FM 2727, and portions of FM 429.

“We are aware of other outages in the area and crews will continue to work until all power is restored,” stated TVEC. “If you are currently experiencing a power outage and have not reported it, please call 1 (800) 967-9324 or 1 (800) 766-9576.”
