Ellis County, TX – An officer-involved shooting occurred on January 16, 2025, shortly before 11 a.m. on Interstate 35 in Red Oak, Texas, involving the Dallas Police Department and a suspect linked to a capital murder case.

According to preliminary reports, officers from the Dallas Police Department located a suspect wanted for capital murder in Dallas County. When officers attempted to stop the suspect's vehicle, he refused to comply, leading to a pursuit that continued onto IH-35 in Red Oak. The chase ended when the suspect crashed into another vehicle, resulting in the death of one occupant and severe injuries to another.

Following the crash, the suspect exited his vehicle armed with a firearm and attempted to flee from pursuing officers. In response to the threat, Dallas Police Officers discharged their weapons, striking the suspect. Officers immediately administered life-saving medical care before he was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
