CRANDALL, Texas — [UPDATE Nov. 6, 3:25 p.m.] — An overnight crash in Crandall proved fatal for a Dallas, Texas, man and police say alcohol may have been a contributing factor.

The driver, and only occupant, of an SUV involved in a rollover crash in Crandall was pronounced deceased shortly after being airlifted to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Texas. He was identified as Juan Jose Sanchez Delgado of Dallas, Texas.

"Alcohol may be a contributing factor based on initial observations made by officers on scene," Crandall Police Department Chief Dean Winters told inForney.com.

[ORIGINAL Nov. 5, 11:43 p.m.] — The driver and only occupant has been confirmed deceased but we have still not been able to make notification to the family. Alcohol may be a contributing factor based on initial observations made by officers on scene.

The Crandall wreck was reported just after 10 p.m. on the south service road of U.S. Highway 175 near East Gertrude Street and North 6th Street.

An eastbound traveling SUV exited the highway, struck a culvert and went airborne, and then struck a sign pole. The SUV came to a rest on its side.

Officials say the driver was ejected from the vehicle and later airlifted to a Dallas-area hospital in critical condition.

The Crandall Police Department, Crandall Fire Department, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), and CareFlite responded to the crash. DPS assisted in the crash investigation.

At 10 p.m., the Terrell Police Department and Terrell Fire Department were dispatched to a rollover crash on Mineral Wells Street at Frazier Street. A vehicle overturned and came to a rest on its roof. Its unknown if there were any injuries in the crash.

The crash caused the brief closure of Mineral Wells Street.
