FORNEY, Texas — The Kaufman County Precinct 2 Constable’s Office Santa COP program is preparing for Christmas deliveries later this month.
The program is in its third year and is serving more than double the families and children it had in years past — approximately 10 families, their children, and a local law enforcement family recently struck by tragedy.

“This whole thing wouldn’t be possible without a lot of people helping,” Precinct 2 Constable Jason Johnson told inForney.com. “Its great to be part of a community where everyone wants to help other people and their neighbors.”
Johnson and members of his office were hard at work Wednesday wrapping gifts collected through a toy drive conducted over the past several weeks. With a little help from Santa, Johnson says the gifts will be delivered just before Christmas day.
Some of the gifts donated will find a special home under a local law enforcement family’s Christmas tree — that of Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper III Danny Shaw who suffered a gunshot wound while on Texas-Mexico border patrol assignment last month.
Johnson says he and the members of his office are just grateful to be in a position to facilitate the community’s willingness to help others during the holiday season.
“We’re going to continue to do that as long as the community needs our help,” he said.
Donations are still be accepting through December 22, 2016, at the Constable's Office within the Kaufman County Sub-Courthouse located at 200 East Main Street. Johnson says gifts for 8-year-olds and up as well as gift cards and cash, used to purchase wish-list specific gifts, are still needed.
