Katie Anderson of Forney did what many people only dream of, in 2010 she turned a hobby and a passion into a successful business. Her store is called Plush Boutique, and it is located at 111 W. Broad Street in Forney. It has become a favorite shopping stop for the town's female residents since it moved to the new location in December 2011.
It isn’t just Forney residents that have fallen in love with Plush. The store was nominated for “Best Women’s Boutique” along with 34 other DFW area women’s boutiques on the A-List Dallas website. Plush was voted as the number 1 women’s boutique by customers. Owner Katie Anderson said, “I was so excited when I heard we were chosen as the top boutique!” She intends to have a customer appreciation day soon to celebrate and said there will be free giveaways and a definite party atmosphere.
For those who have not yet been inside the Plush Boutique, you will be surprised by how much bigger the interior is than what it appears from the outside. It is a 1,200 square foot building and Anderson made sure that there is plenty of “moving around” space for customers. The spacious location leaves room for a variety of merchandise and two dressing rooms. The 1989 Forney High School graduate Anderson said, “I love fashion and home decor...you will find both here at Plush.” They carry jeans, tops, skirts, dresses, bathing suits, shoes, boots, new and vintage jewelry, hair bows, handbags, and other unique pieces.
Anderson said that they offer private jean fittings and at this time their sizes go up to a 34 curvy. Shirts and blouses are small to 2XL. They carry Lucky Brand, Diesel, Big Star, M.E.K., Ya Ya Club and a host of other brands. The shop caters to women and girls of all ages and Anderson wants you to know that, “We can get you in and out quickly and help you pick things out. We are glad to help, but there are no pressure sales here, no one is on commission.” I asked Anderson if the Plush employees are willing to give an honest answer when asked, “Does this look good on me?” She assures us all that they will be kind but honest because that is what a customer deserves.
Plush has gone out of their way to make sure mother’s can shop in peace, even if they bring their kids with them to the store. They set aside an area for kids to watch movies and enjoy some popcorn, and soda. They also offer water, soda and coffee to all customers. Being a child-friendly and customer-oriented business is exactly why Plush was chosen as the best women’s boutique in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. After you visit the Plush Boutique, you’ll understand what it means when Katie Anderson asks, “Have you been Plushed?”
