KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Police shot and killed a knife-wielding assailant who stabbed several people, two of which were airlifted, early Monday morning in southern Kaufman County.
At approximately 12:30 a..m., Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson Captain Fred Klingelberger says deputies initially responded to a residence in the 12000 block of south State Highway 34 in Rosser, Texas, for a reported domestic dispute.
Upon their arrival, Klingelberger says the officers confronted the knife-wielding suspect and shots were fired.
The suspect was struck an unknown amount of times and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two people who sustained stab-related injuries were transported by two CareFlite medical helicopters to Dallas-area hospitals in varying conditions. At least one underwent surgery Monday morning. Its unknown if their current conditions are life threatening.
Klingelberger says a third person may have also sustained stab-related injuries.
The Texas Rangers are investigating the officer-involved shooting.
Details about what led to the original dispute or the officer-involved shooting remain under investigation and were not available at the time of this report.
The Scurry Volunteer Fire Department, Rosser Volunteer Fire Department, Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office, CareFlite, and the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
