KAUFMAN - In the aftermath of today’s storm, voters are going to the polls to vote in the Precinct 1 Commissioner and County Court at Law Run-Off races.
As the day progresses, the Kaufman County Elections Administration reports a significant turnout, with over 800 votes cast. The Kaufman Library is leading the way, closely followed by the Forney Sub-Courthouse, demonstrating the dedication of Kaufman County citizens.
Early this morning, Judge Casey Blair signed an order extending voting by one hour until 8 p.m. due to the severe weather impact.
Elections Administrator Tandi Smith told inForney.com that the Elections Administration is running on a generator, and generators were supplied to the voting locations that lost power.
“Our team has been working hard to ensure that every voter that shows up at a polling station can vote,” said Smith. “This Election Day will go down in the books as the day where everyone has come together in one accord to ensure that our citizen's most sacred right is upheld.”
