A rollover accident on US Highway 80 in Forney sent one male driver to the hospital on Friday afternoon, March 8, 2013. The driver of the vehicle, a Forney resident, failed to maintain control of the vehicle upon entering the highway on the eastbound ramp in front of Philbecks Antiques.
The driver first hit the guardrail on the right side of the ramp, then veered across both lanes of US Highway 80 and made contact with the cable median. After making contact with the median, the vehicle swerved back on to the highway and rolled end over end, landing on the vehicle's tires.
Luckily, the vehicle involved in the accident did not make contact with any other vehicles during the time of the accident. The driver was the only person in the vehicle involved in the wreck.
Because the driver's current condition is unknown, the identity of the driver will not be released. A witness to the accident said that the cable median stopped the vehicle from crossing into westbound traffic. He also said that the driver was not ejected from the vehicle.
The driver was transported by ambulance to Baylor Medical Center of Dallas.
