SEAGOVILLE, Texas — The City of Seagoville has authorized the Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) to conduct ground spraying against mosquitos after a test pool returned positive for West Nile virus.

SEAGOVILLE, Texas — The City of Seagoville has authorized the Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS) to conduct ground spraying against mosquitos after a test pool returned positive for West Nile virus.

The spraying will be conducted along the U.S. Highway 175 service road from the Briar Creek subdivision to Modene Street, to Lasater Road which includes areas of the Highland Meadows subdivision.

Weather permitting, spraying will be conducted Friday, October 21, 2016, from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. and Monday, October 24, 2016, from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.

A mosquito trap pool in the 800 block of High School Drive tested positive for West Nile virus.

“City staff will continue to monitor areas where mosquito breeding is mostly like to occur,” read a statement from the City of Seagoville. “To prevent the spread of mosquitos, residents should remove all areas of standing water and report all pools that are not well maintained and abandoned homes where mosquitos are likely to breed to the Health and Code Enforcement Department.”

“Residents living near this area are encouraged to remain indoors and bring their pets inside during spraying,” stated the city. “Everyone should continue to protect themselves against the West Nile Virus by using insect repellent containing DEET. Citizens are also encouraged to remain indoors during dawn and dusk, when mosquitos are most active.”
