KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — With approximately two inches of rain forecast to drop on already saturated ground in Kaufman County, the National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Flash Flood Watch until midnight. Additionally, a Tornado Watch was issued until 8 p.m.
“Locally heavy rain falling on already saturated soils will likely result in some flash flooding through this evening,” stated the NWS.
“The storm motion will favor training cells, meaning some areas will experience multiple showers and storms with heavy rain, resulting in rainfall totals in excess of 3 inches,” stated the NWS. “The most likely areas to see training cells will be within the flash flood watch, particularly those areas east of the I-35 corridor.”
“There will also be the potential for some severe thunderstorms,” the NWS warned on Tuesday on today’s weather. “Damaging winds will be the main severe weather threat but large hail and even a few tornadoes will be possible.”
At noon, the NWS issued a Tornado Watch for Kaufman County and other North Texas counties until 8 p.m.
