KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — Police say speed was a factor in a two-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon on Farm-to-Market (FM) 2932 which resulted in one person being transported to a Dallas-area hospital.
Just after 1 p.m., the Forney Fire Department, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, Crandall Police Department, Talty Police Department, CareFlite, and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to the crash on FM 2932 at Hancock Avenue.
Texas DPS Trooper Kyle Bradford said a vehicle, traveling southbound, was attempting to make a left turn onto Hancock Avenue from FM 2932 when a vehicle came from behind at a high rate of speed and attempted to pass in the left lane — colliding with the side of the turning vehicle.
The rear vehicle continued into the northbound shoulder and crossed back over FM 2932 into the southbound shoulder where it struck an embankment and came to a rest in a field — approximately 100 yards from the point of impact.
The passenger in the rear vehicle was transported by CareFlite ambulance to Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, Texas, with non-life threatening injuries. No injuries were reported for either drivers.
FM 2932 was closed while wreckers removed both vehicles. It has since been reopened.
