ROSSER, Texas — The State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting the Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office in their investigation of “suspicious” structure fires which occurred last month in the Rosser area of Kaufman County.

Kaufman County Fire Marshal Randy Richards says investigators have ruled out electrical and gas as potential causes to the fire and said they may be incendiary in nature — having some form of human involvement whether accidental or intentional.

Richards says the fires, described as “suspicious,” were of abandoned or vacant buildings which were fully involved upon fire department arrival.

The first fire occurred on November 8, 2016, at approximately 6:41 p.m. near the intersection of Paris and Ennis Streets in Rosser.

“It was an abandoned residential type structure that was fully involved upon fire department arrival,” Richards told inForney.com.

The second fire, of a vacant residential-type structure, according to Richards, occurred on November 11, 2016, at approximately 7:24 p.m. at the corner of Farm-to-Market (FM) 2451 and Main Street in Rosser.

“The State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting with the fire investigations,” stated Richards. “Both fires are considered as suspicious, and the investigations are ongoing.”

If anyone has information about either or both of these fires, please contact the Kaufman County Fire Marshal’s Office at (469) 376-4111 or contact the Kaufman County Crime Stoppers at (877) 847-7522.
