SUNNYVALE, Texas — The Town of Sunnyvale has closed Barnes Bridge Park due to safety and cleanliness concerns.

SUNNYVALE, Texas — The Town of Sunnyvale has closed Barnes Bridge Park due to safety and cleanliness concerns.

The Town of Sunnyvale, in an agreement with the City of Dallas, recently agreed to take over the maintenance and operation of Barnes Bridge Park and, in partnership, agreed on the closure of the park.

“The first priority is closing the park until such time as the cleanliness and safety of those visiting the area in the future can be ensured,” read a statement from the Town of Sunnyvale.

The park is expected to remain closed over the coming months while Sunnyvale officials research possible uses and future amenities, according to the Town of Sunnyvale in a statement on Tuesday.

Up until September, the park, which is located at the end of Barnes Bridge road and adjacent to Lake Ray Hubbard, had been maintained and operated by the City of Dallas.

“Signs indicating the area is closed have been placed along Barnes Bridge Road,” read the statement.

Suspicious activity in the area of the park should immediately be reported to 911.
