TERRELL, Texas — A group of Terrell High School AV Production students won The Family Peace Project’s “Love is Not Abuse” public service announcement video contest aimed at bringing awareness to dating violence among teenagers.
The winning video submission was created by Terrell High School AV Production students Emmy Cooper, Kayli Patterson, Peyton Scottino, and Jaden Tolliver. (Editor’s Note: See winning videos below)
“I am very proud of my students,” said, Mr. Tony Brown, AV Production Teacher. “They are very talented and creative.”
The contest began February 1 and was aimed at bringing awareness to dating violence among teenagers.
The contest was open to Kaufman and Henderson County students who were tasked with creating a 60-to-90-second video that highlights the dangers of controlling and abusive relationships, according to The Family Peace Project. Contestants videos received more than 1,500 views and “likes” on social media.
“We hope this contest will help students understand the full impact that abuse has on their lives and the people around them,” said Mary Farmer, Executive Director of The Family Peace Project.
Second place was awarded to Kaufman High School AV students Anthony Berry, Jordan Fuentes, Kinsey Lopez, and Spencer Davis.
Third place was awarded to Kaufman High School AV students Will Sisson, Jose Olvera, Cameron Nobles, and Dillon Howell.
Honorable mentions were awarded to Kennia Velasquez and Xavier Robles from Athens High School and Kayla Stewart from Forney High School.
