The Terrell Independent School District stated in a press release they are completing the investigation into the sudden death of Furlough Middle School student Zusette Moreno.

Zusette is believed to have succumbed to injuries she obtained during an attack at school and later dying at an area hospital, say family and friends. However, a preliminary autopsy report from the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office states that there were “no signs of trauma or assault” on the body of Zusette Moreno.

The Terrell ISD Police Department has now released that they have reviewed a security video from Furlough Middle School that many believed to hold the missing links in the case. The TISD Police Department determined after an examination of the security video that it showed “no evidence that the child had been assaulted or had any visible indication of physical trauma on her last day of school.”

The information obtained in the preliminary investigation was also shared, by the TISD Police Department, with the Kaufman County District Attorney's Office and the Texas Rangers. Both agencies declined further investigation citing there is “no evidence of criminal behavior associated with the student's death.”

TISD stated, “Protecting our children is our number one priority. Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to the family and community during this difficult time.”
