TERRELL, Texas — The Terrell Police Department’s senior most tenured member retired after three decades with the department and was recently honored for his committed service.
Sergeant Scott A. Kepner began his career with the Terrell Police Department in November 1986 and served in many capacities until his retirement in December 2016.
Kepner served a majority of his time in the Patrol Division where he acted as a Field Training Officer and Advanced Accident Reconstruction Specialist. Kepner held the rank of Patrol Corporal until 2007 when he was promoted to Patrol Sergeant and most recently served as sergeant in the Internal Affairs Division.
On January 27, 2017, Kepner was surrounded by friends, family, and colleagues at the department’s new headquarters when he was honored for his service.
“Upon retirement, Kepner vacates the position of the senior most member of the agency in terms of tenure,” Terrell Police Department Captain A.D. Sansom stated. “The department wishes Sergeant Scott A. Kepner well in all his endeavors and offers sincere appreciation for his many years of service.”
Terrell Police Department Chief Jody Lay presented Kepner with a departmental appreciation plaque with his badge and dates of service and a display case featuring Kepner’s service weapon which had been customized in gold lettering with Kepner’s years of service.
The retirement comes just months before the department is set to fully occupy their new police headquarters in February 2017.
