FORNEY, Texas — [DEVELOPING] The Forney Police Department is investigating a shooting incident at Forney Community Park which stemmed from a reported disturbance on Friday night.
No injuries were initially reported in the incident and police have recovered a gun and at least one shell casing and another unspent round.
The incident occurred just before 9:30 p.m. when police received a report of a fight at the park. Witnesses say they heard at least one gun shot at the time of the incident.
Approximately 150 people were initially detained in the west parking lot of the park where the incident took place to allow police officers and detectives to question witnesses, according to police.
Just before 11:30 p.m., police confirmed at least three people had been arrested. Two arrests were made for assault and another for discharging a firearm. The man who discharged the firearm has a license to carry, according to police.
Police say the incident possibly stemmed from a disturbance earlier today or yesterday which culminated at the park on Friday night. A female reportedly drew a tazer after a fight broke out and a male drew a firearm and reportedly discharged at least one round in the air, witnesses told police.
Police say, of those identified, a majority do not live within the city limits of Forney with addresses across the greater Dallas area and surrounding Kaufman County communities.
Arrested were 23-year-old Laquintance Vernon Davis of Dallas, Texas, for disorderly conduct, discharging a firearm, 20-year-old Aaleriean Uaute Henry of Forney, Texas, for assault causes bodily injury, and 18-year-old Devon S. McCollum, also of Forney, for assault causes bodily injury.
Davis was released from the Forney Police Department Jail on a $1,000 bond, Henry was released after posting a $2,500 at the Forney jail, and McCollum was released after posting a $2,500 bond from the Kaufman County Jail.
