Tornado Watch issued for portions of north Texas, Kaufman County

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Tornado Watch for portions of north Texas, including Kaufman County, until 11 p.m. on Friday.

KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a Tornado Watch for portions of north Texas, including Kaufman County, until 11 p.m. on Friday.

“A Tornado Watch is issued when conditions are favorable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing tornadoes,” stated the NWS. “In addition to the threat for tornadoes, hail larger than two inches in diameter and wind gusts in excess of 60 MPH will be possible.”

Storms are expected to impact Kaufman County around 10 p.m.

“Locally heavy rainfall totals in excess of five inches may also lead to flash flooding,” stated the NWS.

“People in and around the watch area are advised to stay tuned to NOAA Weather Radio and/or local media outlets for additional details and possible warnings,” stated the NWS. “Be prepared to act should a warning be issued for your location!”

The watch in north central Texas includes the counties of Collin, Cooke, Dallas, Delta, Denton, Ellis, Fannin, Grayson, Hood, Hunt, Jack, Johnson, Kaufman, Lamar, Montague, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell, Tarrant, and Wise.
