Local Eagle Scout, Andrew McLeod was given a Proclamation which acknowledged that he was honored by Troop 339 with an Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony on May 22, 2012. McLeod chose to remove, upgrade, and replace the fence at the Lonestar Baptist Church for his Eagle Scout project.
Mayor Rozell proclaimed that Andrew McLeod “exemplifies the strongest and noblest of our youth” and congratulated him on obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout. September 19, 2012 was proclaimed as Eagle Scout Andrew McLeod Day. The teen addressed the council and audience and thanked them for the honor. He said of being an Eagle Scout, “I take pride in it every day.” McLeod would like to go to become an Army Officer.

Another local citizen, well known by many in Forney, was honored for his many years of service to the city. C.L. “Mac” McCuistion is a long time resident of Forney. He was not only given the Proclamation declaring September 19, 2012 as C.L. “Mac” McCuistion Day in Forney, but was also presented with a Key to the City, a pen set, and a wonderful framed photo collage of historic moments that he was part of throughout his years in Forney. McCuistion thanked the Mayor and Council, and City Secretary Dorothy Brooks for the honor and awards bestowed on him. He also thanked his wife for being there with him and for him through it all.
A Proclamation was also issued by the Mayor, proclaiming September 17 – 23, 2012 as Constitution Week. He urged all citizens to “reflect on the many benefits of our federal Constitution and the privileges and responsibilities of American citizenship.” The 225th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution took place on September 17, 2012.
