FORNEY, Texas (Texas Department of Transportation) – A project to improve the US 80 frontage road and relocate the ramps at FM 460 (Clements Road) and FM 740 (Pinson Road) is set to begin in mid-October.
The project includes eliminating a 90 degree turn on the eastbound frontage road and converting it to one-way operation for improved safety and better traffic flow. The project also includes changing the ramp configuration so that traffic headed to businesses will not have to exit to the residential development on Clements Road. There will be an exit to go northbound on Clements before the bridge and traffic headed to businesses may exit after the Clements Road bridge to avoid residential traffic.
This will also open up a swath of land to economic development between the Statue of Liberty and the Dairy Queen restaurant west of Pinson Road.
The project length is 1.5 miles. The contract was awarded to Ed Bell Construction Company with a bid of $5 million.
Work will require various daytime lane closures scheduled during off-peak hours throughout the duration of the project. The project is expected to be substantially complete in December of 2017.
The project was developed and funded in cooperation with the City of Forney and Kaufman County.
