Falcons remain undefeated with 49-13 win over Spruce

FORNEY, Texas — The North Forney High School Falcons (3-0) defense held the Spruce High School Timberwolves (2-1) to two touchdowns in route to a 49-13 non-district victory on Friday night in Pleasant Grove.

FORNEY, Texas — The North Forney High School Falcons (3-0) defense held the Spruce High School Timberwolves (2-1) to two touchdowns in route to a 49-13 non-district victory on Friday night in Pleasant Grove.

The Falcons amassed 441 total yards and, at one point, had a 43-point scoring gap over the Timberwolves.

Scoring for the Falcons was quick and repetitive with quarterback Colby Suits connecting with Jordan Carroll on a 9-yard and 19-yard touchdown pass with 10:16 and 4:31 in the first quarter, respectively. Jaylin Smith also charged across the touchdown line on a 3-yard carry with 6:54 in the quarter.

The Timberwolves contested midway through the second quarter with Cadarius Doss connecting with Octavius Brown on a 39-yard pass. The PAT failed and brought the score to 21-6 in favor of the Falcons.

With just under five minutes remaining in the quarter, Suits would connected with Jackson Ennels on a 22-yard touchdown pass, Carroll on a 27-yard touchdown pass, and Smith on a 20-yard touchdown pass to take the Falcons into halftime with a 42-6 lead.

Smith rushed for 10-yards with 4:24 remaining in the third quarter for the Falcons final touchdown on the night. The Timberwolves Kendrick Ford would later rush for 13 yards with 4:13 remaining in the game to bring the final score to 49-13.

Suits threw for 234 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for another 24 yards on 6 carries. Barclay Ford would lead the receiving with 63 yards on 4 receptions but it was Carroll who completed his only 3 catches on the night for 55 yards and 3 touchdowns. Engels received for 52 yards and a touchdown and Smith with a one-and-done reception for 20 yards and a touchdown.

Smith led the rushing with 53 yards on 9 carries and two rushing touchdowns. Other rushing notables include Calvin Ribera with 45 yards on 5 carries, David Flores with 45 yards on 10 carries, and Tarik Dickinson with 35 yards on 4 carries.

The Falcons extend their winning streak to 3-0 in non-district play and look to continue the streak and begin district play against Wylie East (2-1) at Wylie ISD Stadium on Friday night, September 16, 2016, at 7:30 p.m.
