FORNEY, Texas β€” The Forney High School Jackrabbits baseball team is set to take on the defending state champions, Prosper High School, in a best-of-three series beginning Thursday night.

Game 1 of the series will be played tonight at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas at 7:30 p.m. Game 2 is Friday night at Plano West High School at 7:30 p.m. and Game 3, if needed, will be played Saturday at Jesuit at 1 p.m.

Last year, Prosper became Conference 5A Region 2 Champions before moving on to the state tournament where they defeated Tomball, 6-2 in the semi-finals and Georgetown, 8-0, to become the eventual State Champions.

Forney High School claimed a Bi-District Championship last year but were bumped in the area-round by Friso High School.

The Jackrabbits defeated Woodrow Wilson, 7-2, last week in a one-game bi-district matchup at Forney. Forney’s sophomore pitcher Mason Englert kept Wilson hitless in the first five innings with sophomore pitcher Jonathon Childress and senior pitcher Dawson Seabourne finishing the night 7-2.
