Three Forney entrepreneurs kick off a tradition for Forney’s Unity Bowl football game between the Forney High School Jackrabbits and North Forney High School Falcons. The Unity Bowl, as it has been dubbed by the Forney Independent School District, will be played on October 26, 2012 at City Bank Stadium at 7:30 p.m. The tradition they have planned is a massive tailgate party before the game that will be awarded to one lucky drawing winner and 25 of their closest friends.
The organizers of the event are Matthew Malone of Century 21 and his office, Justin Slocum of Allstate, and Mathew Richards of inForney.com. The entry form for the drawing can be found online at inForney.com/tailgate and only requires you to fill in your name, phone number, email, and to answer one simple question: Who’s your Forney team?
The “Ultimate Tailgate Party” (UTP), as it is being called, will be held at City Bank Stadium before the football game between 5-7 p.m. and the theme will be determined by the winner of the drawing. The winner will be drawn from the list of entrants on October 20th. The UTP made its debut in the Athletic Sports Program with a single page ad and now it is being opened up for everyone to participate. The event will include all food and drinks under a covered tent just outside the front gates of City Bank Stadium.
The cross-town rivalry drew first blood when the volleyball teams faced off in district play at Forney High School on September 21, 2012. The Lady Jackrabbits beat the Lady Falcons 3-2 in five explosive games. With two more games to be played by the football teams before the Unity Bowl, it is still too soon to determine who will be the favorite in the game. But one thing is certain, this game will not be forgotten.
