Forney goes 3-0 with with dominating homecoming performance

FORNEY, Texas — Homecoming is always a special game. It’s even better when you win.

FORNEY, Texas — Homecoming is always a special game. It’s even better when you win.

It’s the best when you win in dominating fashion. That’s what happened tonight at City Bank Stadium as the Jackrabbits put up maybe their best all-around game of 2015 with a 49-0 shutout victory over Fort Worth Eastern Hills.

As expected, Luke Skipper led the offense by accounting for 5 touchdowns, 2 passing and 3 rushing, and helping the offense to almost 500 yards of total offense.

Michael Prox had another very solid game from his running back position with 108 total yards of offense. Seven different players caught passes for Forney, including Aaron Rideaux with two receptions for 100 yards and a touchdown and Brock Rooney with five catches for 47 yards.

Rideaux’s big play was an 86-yard touchdown reception which showcased a lot of maturity from Rideaux as he waited for at least 3 blocks to develop before turning on the jets and outrunning the entire Highlander defense.

There is a lot to say about the defensive performance tonight from the Jackrabbits which only allowed the Highlanders 15 yards of total offense in the first half. That’s right, the entire first half. You won’t see that very often, at any level.

The first shutout of the year seemed inevitable at that point. At the final horn, Eastern Hills had gained a total of 81 yards on the night. The Jackrabbit defense forced another fumble recovery in the first half and kept the Highlanders in check all night long.

The most positive play for the Highlanders was the opening kickoff, which they recovered after an onside kick. Their possession didn’t last long and resulted in negative yards before the Jackrabbits recovered a fumbled snap. Skipper then guided the offense into the endzone for a 6-0 advantage. The Jackrabbits never looked back after this lead and amassed a 42-0 lead at halftime and an eventual 49-0 shutout victory.

Forney starts District 12-5A play next week in Royse City who is coming off back-to-back wins with over 60 points scored against their opponents.
