FORNEY, Texas — Forney High School junior Madison Horton was named Forney High School Athlete of the Week, according to the district’s website.
Horton took 6th place at the Falcon Invitational at Firewheel Golf Park (old course) in the school’s opening tournament of the year. “Her score of 87 bested her last year’s tournament average, and helped lead the team to a 4th place finish in the tournament,” stated the district’s website.
Last year, Horton placed 2nd individually which led the team to a 2nd place finish overall — qualifying Horton for regionals.
The girls golf team will next play at Waterview Golf Course in Rowlett, Texas, on Monday, October 5, 2015, with the boys team playing on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at Firewheel Lakes Golf Course.
