DENTON, Texas — The Forney High School competitive cheer team took two top awards at the Spirit Celebration Fall Championship over the weekend.
DENTON, Texas — The Forney High School competitive cheer team took two top awards at the Spirit Celebration Fall Championship over the weekend.
The team competed Saturday and Sunday, November 15-15, 2014, at the University of North Texas’ Coliseum in Denton, Texas. The team walked away with 1st place and Level Champs at the competition, the team’s first competition of the season. The team received a large banner for achieving level champs.
More than 80 teams converged on Denton for the competition. The team plans to compete in several National Cheerleader Association events this spring including a performance at the Dallas Convention Center in January.
The team, led by coaches Gayla Gonzalez and Sarah Cypert, will hold a benefit breakfast fundraiser at Applebee’s in Forney on Saturday, November 22, 2014, from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
