FORNEY, Texas β The Forney High School girls cross country team took 1st place in the UIL Region 2-5A Cross Country Meet at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie, Texas, earlier today β advancing the team to the state competition in November.
The girls team was named the Regional Champions after top finishes in 1st, 3rd, 9th, 23rd, 32nd, 41st, and 77th place for a team total time of 1:34:44.98 and scoring 68 points β topping The Colony with 72 points, Prosper with 83, and Mckinney North with 113.
Forneyβs Lauryn Barrientos took 1st place with a time of 17:53.76, Danielle Beckstead placed 3rd with 18:23.82, Caylon McMillan placed 9th with 18:43.71, Hannah Vancil place 23rd with 19:42.15, Cassidy Hill placed 32nd with 20:01.54, Megan Garza placed 41st with 20:33.28, and Hannah Holdbrook took 77th place with 21:54.45.
The Cross Country State Championship match is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2015, at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas.
