FORNEY, Texas — Forney High School graduate Lauryn Barrientos is among the top ranked collegiate long distance recruits, as ranked by TXRunning.com’s Texas Cross Country magazine.
Barrientos, a 2016 graduate of Forney High School, ranked 10th in the state for collegiate long-distance runners by the magazine.
A seven-time state qualifier and a three-time state qualifier in cross country, Barrientos took third and second at the state meet her junior and senior years in high school, respectively, according to the magazine.
Barrientos signed with Texas A&M University in College Station to compete distance and cross country in the fall.
On the track, Barrientos finished fifth in the 800m with a time of 2:18.85 at the 2014 State 5A meet following a third-place performance in the Region II-5A meet where she set a best of 2:17.43, according to the 12thman.com. Baronets also finished seventh in the State 5A 1,600m with a time of 5:12.50 after winning the region title with a time of 5:13.55.
Barrientos best times include the 800m at 2:17.43, 1,600 at 5:09.50, three-mile at 17:53.76, and 5,000 at 18:44.43.
