Forney ISD runners heading to state cross country meet

FORNEY, Texas — Several Forney Independent School District cross country runners qualified for state championship meet in Round Rock, Texas, on Saturday, November 8, 2014.

FORNEY, Texas — Several Forney Independent School District cross country runners qualified for state championship meet in Round Rock, Texas, on Saturday, November 8, 2014.

North Forney’s Kyle Garcia placed third overall in the Region II meet at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. The finish, 15:40, qualified Garcia for a trip to the state meet. The North Forney boy’s team team finished in 14th overall of 24 teams. North Forney girl’s team finished 15th overall.

Forney High School’s girl’s varsity team finished 4th overall which qualified the whole team to advance to state. Caylon McMillan took 1st place at the regional meet with a time of 18:42 — her best time all season. Lauryn Barrientos took a close second at the meet with a time of 18:45.

Forney High School’s boy’s team finished 7th overall with runner Brock Collins placing 11th overall with a time of 16:05, a personal record, and qualified for state.

Girls will run at 11:30 a.m. and boys will run at noon. Old Settlers Park is located at 3300 Palm Valley Blvd, Round Rock, Texas.
