The swim season is officially underway after the Forney ISD swim teams first matchup against Bishop Lynch and Garland in Dallas, Texas, on October 10, 2013.

“This was our first meet of the year with not too much practice time in the pool before it,” said Forney ISD Swim Head Coach Brandon Tunnell. “With that being said I think we did a decent job tonight.”

The Forney High School boy's team finished 3rd overall and the girl's team finished fourth overall at the match. North Forney High School fared a little bit better with their boy's team coming in 2nd overall and the girl's team coming in 3rd overall.

Individual highlights from the Forney High School teams during the match include Brook Putnam who placed 3rd in the 50 Free and Colt Smith who won the 100 Fly and 500 Free.

“We have some work to do but I see good things for this team later in the year,” said Tunnell. Coach Tunnell selected Colt Smith as Forney High School's “Swimmer of the Meet.”

Individual highlights for North Forney High School's teams include Chelsea Edmonds who finished 3rd in the 100 Fly and 500 Free. Kenny Clark finished 1st in the 200 IM, Jacob Woods finished 3rd in the 200 IM, RJ Cervantez finished 2nd in the 500 Free, Harrison Wick finished 2nd in the 100 Fly, and Chris Hildebrant finished 3rd in the 500 Free.

Woods, Huynh, Cervantz, and Clark also finished 2nd in the 200 Medley Relay. Wick, Hildebrant, Huynh, and Woods finished 2nd in the 200 Free Relay and Wick, Woods, Clark, and Cervantez finished 2nd in the 400 Free Relay.

Coach Tunnell selected Kenny Clark as the “Swimmer of the Meet” for North Forney High School.

“I was happy to see some swimmers who have never swam before in a meet have a successful meet. I also observed some swimmers that have swam for us before and worked hard over the summer and it is paying off with fast times and personal records,” said Tunnell. “We have a ways to go before we reach our goal of being district champs but with hard work we will achieve it in January.”
