Forney's Athletic Director, Neal Weaver, said, "This is essentially a playoff game for us. Winner advances. Loser goes home. Our young men should feel good going into Standbridge. We played well there against Creekview. I look forward to a fun atmosphere and an exciting game."
Forney was coming off a three game win streak, including their win at Standbridge Stadium against Carrollton Creekview, before getting badly bruised by the West Mesquite Wranglers last week, 41-7. The Carrollton Newman Smith Trojans lost last week to the Highland Park Scots, 58-7. Forney lost to Highland Park in Week 4, 42-7. Stacked side by side, all offensive stats and point margins against like opponents are almost identical across the board.
Highland Park, Mesquite Poteet, and West Mesquite have each clinched playoff berths.
