FORNEY, Texas — Verbal commitments and handshakes have already been made but, earlier this week, athletes at Forney High School and North Forney High School put pen to paper on National Signing Day to sign national letters of intent to commit to play the next level of sports in college.
FORNEY, Texas — Verbal commitments and handshakes have already been made but, earlier this week, athletes at Forney High School and North Forney High School put pen to paper on National Signing Day to sign national letters of intent to commit to play the next level of sports in college.
One of the most notable signings was that of North Forney High School’s Khari “Tay” Dickinson who committed to Navy.
Dickinson tells inForney.com there were several influences in his decision to sign with Navy including family members who were formerly in the Navy, the atmosphere in Annapolis, Maryland, and securing a successful future.
Dickinson prepares to leave July 26 for the Naval Academy where he will major in economics and play “A” back for the Midshipmen.
Dickinson also committed to the furthest travel, of the eleven Forney ISD signees, in a more than 1,300 mile trek to Annapolis. Forney High School’s Madison Horton also committed to the long haul with her signing to Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado, where she will play golf.
Four Forney High School softball players signed letters of intent: Kamryn Wells to Navarro College; Cassidy Schubert to Southwestern College; Jenny McElroy to Eastern New Mexico University; and Mackenzie Miller to Navarro College.
Three Forney High School football players signed letters of intent: Corbin Scarber to Midwestern State; Prince Udenze to Southern Arkansas; and Brock Rooney to Hendrix College.
Committed to play soccer, Forney High School’s Kelsey Phillips signed with Ouachita Baptist University and North Forney High School’s Sara Tackett signed with Eastfield College.
