FORNEY, Texas — Forney High School’s (2-1, 5-1) dual-threat senior quarterback, Luke Skipper, committed to the University of Tulsa after a visit to the campus over the weekend.

While visiting the campus over the weekend and after watching the Tulsa Golden Hurricane defeat Louisiana Monroe, 34-24, University of Tulsa coach Phillip Montgomery extended Skipper a scholarship offer, according to TulsaWorld.com.

“It was kind of a no-brainer,” Skipper told TulsaWorld. “The school is exactly what I was looking for academic-wise and then on top of that they’re a great Division I football team.”

Skipper, 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, was featured as the top dual-threat quarterback in Class 5A in the Dallas-Fort Worth area after Week 5 with 1,141 passing yards and 1,810 total yards including rushing. Skipper completed 24 touchdowns, 17 passing, with a 66 percent completion rate.

College recruits can begin signing letters of intent in February 2016.
