FORNEY, Texas — Forney High School’s Brendan Vaughn is in the running for the Dallas Morning News’ SportsDay HS weekly Hero award for his performance in the Jackrabbit’s game against West Mesquite last week which secured a playoff appearance.
FORNEY, Texas — Forney High School’s Brendan Vaughn is in the running for the Dallas Morning News’ SportsDay HS weekly Hero award for his performance in the Jackrabbit’s game against West Mesquite last week which secured a playoff appearance.
Vaughn, a junior linebacker, completed 13 tackles, eight solo, and three for a loss. Vaughn also broke up a pass, recovered a fumble, and recovered an on-side kick.
The Jackrabbits defeated West Mesquite 44-27 and secured a playoff spot in District 12-5A.

Nominees each week are also included in the DMN staff's consideration for SportsDayHS' offensive and defensive players of the year in January, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Forney will next play cross-town rival North Forney High School in the 4th annual Unity Bowl on November 6, 2015, at 7:30 p.m.
