The college all-star game in Allen is called Texas vs. the Nation, and the Pride Football squad did not hesitate to accept the invitation to play before the big game. The all-star game is an opportunity for college football seniors to play one last time in front of over 240 NFL scouts and team administrators. The game will be played at Allen High Schools brand new $60 million stadium that seats 20,000 people.
Pride Football's 12U team went 20-0 this season. In the early rounds of the National Championship tournament, the team won two double overtime games to move on in the tournament. They beat two talented teams of all-stars from Ft. Worth and Houston, and they did it with a shut-down defense. Coach Don Vrana said, βThe defense completely shut down their very athletic backfields and the Pride offense found ways to get into the end zone." In the championship game, the Pride faced the defending National Champions, the FBU Jackets, a team of elite players from all across Texas. Forney's team brought home the championship by winning that game 14-6.
Coach Vrana is pumped up about the February 2 event, saying, "I am really excited for the kids to get this opportunity. To provide our boys, coaches, and parents an opportunity to meet with this years NFL draft class, to get autographs from ex-NFL greats, and to be part of the NFL scouting process is a once in a lifetime experience. The festivities for the boys will begin Thursday and run through the conclusion of Saturday's college game. A standing room only crowd is expected at the game. What a way to finish the perfect season!β
The all-star game will be broadcast on Fox Sports, 7 p.m. CMT on February 2, 2013.
