Forney's Skipper named Ford Tough Texas High School Player of the Week

FORNEY, Texas β€” Forney High School quarterback Luke Skipper has been named the Built Ford Tough Texas 5A High School Player of the Week for week 11 of the regular season. Skipper was awarded the honor by Ford for excellence on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

FORNEY, Texas β€” Forney High School quarterback Luke Skipper has been named the Built Ford Tough Texas 5A High School Player of the Week for week 11 of the regular season. Skipper was awarded the honor by Ford for excellence on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

Skipper had 293 yards passing, 135 yards rushing, threw four touchdown passes and ran for three touchdowns in the team's 59-28 win over North Forney High School in the Unity Bowl on Friday, Nov. 6.

Skipper, who has orally committed to play quarterback for Tulsa University finished the season with 2,247 yards passing with 30 passing touchdowns and 1,106 yards rushing and 15 rushing touchdowns.

Skipper will lead the Jackrabbits in the team's Bi-District Playoff game scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 12 against Dallas Bryan Adams High School at Allen Stadium in Allen, Texas. Kickoff for the game is set for 7:30 p.m.

In addition to his success on the football field, Skipper holds a 3.31 GPA, is an outfielder for the Jackrabbits' baseball team, is active with the Forney Food Pantry, involved in church youth ministry as well as Forney’s Toys for Tots program and is a youth basketball league volunteer.

The Built Ford Tough Player of the Week Award is one of the highest recognitions given to high school football players because of its three pillars of achievement: outstanding play, great classroom work and giving back to school and community.

A formal presentation of the honor will be presented to Skipper by Randall Noe Ford in Terrell, Texas. Additional information about the presentation will be available at a later date.
