FORNEY, Texas — Kaufman County runners took top spots at the University Interscholastic League (UIL) State Meet at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas, over the weekend including a 2nd place finish by Forney High School’s Lauryn Barrientos.
FORNEY, Texas — Kaufman County runners took top spots at the University Interscholastic League (UIL) State Meet at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas, over the weekend including a 2nd place finish by Forney High School’s Lauryn Barrientos.
Approximately 150 competitors in each class slogged through the rain soaked and muddy course on Saturday.
In the District 5A competition, Forney’s Lauryn Barrientos finished second place with a time of 19:04 — leading the Jackrabbits to a 7th place team finish in the girls competition. Danielle Beckstead finished 29th with a time of 20:13, Caylon McMillan in 36th with 20:23, Hannah Vancil in 100th with 21:32, Megan Garza in 103rd with 21:36, Cassidy Hill in 110th with 21:49, and Hannah Holdbrook in 131st with 22:18.
In District 4A, Crandall High School’s Kyle Purifoy finished 17th with a 12:43.24 and Keely Hanley finished 66th with a 13:22.75.
Also in 4A, the Kaufman High School girls team took 3rd place overall and the boys team took 12th place overall.
For the Kaufman High School girls team, Andrea Gandara finished 11th with a time of 12:49.41, Vivian Glick finished 27th with 25:55.58, Wendy Vasquez in 31st with 39:04.17, Jasmin Venegas in 33rd with 52:14.41, Amanda Rodriguez in 36th with 1:05:30.22, Alicia Robledo in 48th with 1:18:57.27, and Leslie Gonzalez in 64th with 1:32:42.93.
The Kaufman High School boys team Sebastian Gonzalez took 57th place with a time of 18:20, Spencer Keith in 59th place with a time of 18:20.46, Jesus Leja in 70th with 18:42.03, Tyler Kotwitz in 77th with 18:57.21, Noah McBride in 78th with 19:00.56, Patrick Mitchell in 93rd with 19:19.86, and Justin Dees in 100th with 19:29.19.
