Kaufman, Forney, and Crandall football players receive THSCA Academic All-State Team honors

KAUFMAN, Texas — Several football players from Forney, Kaufman, and Crandall have received Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Academic All-State Team honors, one of which —A Kaufman High School athlete— obtained an Elite designation, the THSCA recently announced.

KAUFMAN, Texas — Several football players from Forney, Kaufman, and Crandall have received Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Academic All-State Team honors, one of which —A Kaufman High School athlete— obtained an Elite designation, the THSCA recently announced.

“We understand that students’ performance in the classroom can sometimes be difficult to manage while participating in athletics, but their hard work has not gone unnoticed,” stated the THSCA on their website. “The THSCA Academic All-State Teams recognize high school athletes who excel in the following categories: GPA, class rank and ACT/SAT score.”

“We applaud them for their commitment and dedication to perform with the highest of excellence academically and on the field or court,” stated the THSCA.

Six football players from Kaufman High School made the cut: Anthony Berry, Honorable Mention; Jordan Fuentes, Honorable Mention; Abraham Garcia, Honorable Mention; Ryan Gentzel, Elite; Dylan Howell, Honorable Mention; and Rigoberto Torres, Honorable Mention.

Eight football players from Forney High School made placement on the team: Dalton Carson, 2nd Team; Lambert Cody, Honorable Mention; Tyler Copeland, Honorable Mention; Ethan Hanley, 1st Team; Spencer Harrison, Honorable Mention; Sydne Morgan, 2nd Team; and Brock Rooney, 2nd Team.

Four Crandall High School football players were named: Michael Dearman, Honorable Mention; Kole Hartis, 1st Team; Jackson Lawley, 1st Team; and Trent Mills, Honorable Mention.

“We are very proud of these young men and what they've been able to accomplish on the field and in the classroom,” Kaufman ISD stated on Facebook. “They exemplify what we expect our student athletes to look like.”
