FORNEY, Texas — The Lovejoy Leopards (3-5, 2-3) defeated the North Forney High School Falcons (4-4, 1-4) on Thursday night at Forney ISD’s City Bank Stadium.
FORNEY, Texas — The Lovejoy Leopards (3-5, 2-3) defeated the North Forney High School Falcons (4-4, 1-4) on Thursday night at Forney ISD’s City Bank Stadium.
Despite very similar offensive statistics, Lovejoy capitalized on touchdown drives in the three remaining quarters with the Falcons scoring their lone touchdown in the final four minutes of the game.
Lovejoys Carson Collins threw for 258 yards and three touchdowns connecting with Chase Van Wagoner on a 16-yard pass in the second quarter, Wagoner again on a 71-yard pass in the third quarter, and Anthony Vogel on a 20-yard pass late in the fourth quarter.
With just under four minutes remaining in the game, the Falcons lone touchdown came at the end of a nine-play drive with Colby Suits passing to Jackson Ennels for 1 yard.
The Leopards accumulated 394 total yards —258 passing and 136 rushing— and 18 first downs with the Falcons accumulating 307 total yards — 260 passing and 47 rushing— and 17 first downs.
Receiving for the Falcons were Barclay Ford with 83 yards on 6 receptions, Jordan Carroll with 69 yards on 3 receptions, Khari Dickinson with 67 yards and 5 receptions, and Ennels with 41 yards on three receptions and a touchdown.
Calvin Ribera rushed for 27 yards on 10 carries, Dickinson with 22 yards on 4 carries, and David Flores with 20 yards on 6 carries.
The Falcons will next play fourth-ranked District 15-5A opponent West Mesquite High School (4-3, 3-1) on Friday, October 28, 2016, at Mesquite’s Memorial Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
