The North Forney Falcons played their first home game of the season Friday night, September 14, 2012, at City Bank Stadium in Forney. NFHS was coming into this game after a strong win against Royse City last week, 34 – 3.
During the Homecoming ceremonies before the game, Antoine Lewis and Jessica Figueroa were crowned homecoming king and queen for North Forney High School.
The Falcons won the toss and elected to kick the opening kickoff and start the game on defense. The game was marred with personal fouls from the away team but, nonetheless, their defense was rock solid and was proving to be a challenge for the Falcons. A light drizzle kept the artificial turf and game ball just wet enough to allow turnovers on both sides, with several interceptions and fumbles.
With 4:33 left in the first quarter, the Falcon's #7, Jones, ran the ball into the endzone and the Falcons were the first to put seven points on the board. The Lions contested the Falcon's touchdown with the clock at 0:00 in the first quarter and set up in a swinging gate formation for the two-point conversion. The two-point conversion was good and the score at the end of the first quarter was NFHS Falcons 7, Ennis Lions 8.
The Ennis Lions were the only team to score in the second quarter, putting an additional seven points on the board and, going into the second half of the game, the score was NFHS Falcons 7, Ennis Lions 15.
The Falcons were able to move the ball down the field several times in the second half of the game but kept getting shut out just before the goal line. The Ennis Lions put an additional 28 points on the scoreboard in the second half with a failed field goal attempt and a successful two-point conversion.
The final score of the game was North Forney High School Falcons 7, Ennis Lions 43.
North Forney and Forney High Schools will both have their bye weeks next Friday night and they will resume play on the 28th of September with their first district games. Both teams are heading into district play 1-2.
