FORNEY, Texas - With North Forney's (2-4, 3-6) loss tonight to second-ranked Mesquite Poteet (5-1, 8-1) at home, North Forney's playoff hopes depend on their last District 10-4A matchup against Carrollton Creekview (3-3, 5-4).
North Forney kept their 5th place position in district with their loss to Mesquite Poteet and Carrollton Creekview kept their 4th place position in district with their win over Terrell at Tiger Stadium, 47-7. The top 4 teams in District 10-4A will advance to Bi-District Playoffs.
North Forney had a rocky start in their matchup against Mesquite Poteet tonight, November 1, 2013, at City Bank Stadium. The Poteet Pirates held the Falcons from scoring until late in the 2nd quarter and after they already racked up 34 points.
The Falcons began their first scoring drive on their own 29-yard line. Quarterback Hunter Herndon connected with Andre Davis for a loss of a yard, Armani Watts for a gain of 11 yards, and then Tyrone Morgan for another gain of 7 yards. The Falcons took it back to the ground with two rushes by Andre Davis for a gain of 4 yards.
Seth Garcia caught another Herndon pass for a gain of a yard and then Armani Watts with 39-yard catch to put the Falcons in the red zone on the Pirates 10 yard line. Herndon tucked and ran for an extra yard before connecting with Armani Watts with the scoring pass with 5:40 left in the second quarter.
Neither team would score again before returning to the locker rooms for halftime. Halftime score: Mesquite Poteet 34, North Forney 7.
The Poteet Pirates again were able to held the Falcons to scoring until late in the half and amassed another 21 points. The Falcons were able to tack on an additional 3 points on a 28-yard field goal by Hunter McClain with 2:51 left in the game.
The Poteet Pirates accumulated 504 total yards on the night and held the Falcons to 161. Armani Watts led the Falcon offense with 78 receiving yards on 6 passes and one touchdown. Herndon threw for 143 yards, the touchdown pass to Watts, and 3 interceptions.
