North Forney defeats South Garland, 43-37

FORNEY, Texas β€” The North Forney High School (1-3, 2-5) Falcons defeated District 12-5A opponent, South Garland (0-4, 0-7), 43-37 on Thursday night, October 15, 2015.

North Forney accumulated more than 400 total yards and overcame a 10-point deficit after halftime to beat South Garland.

South Garland started the scoring early in the 1st quarter on a 19-yard pass to Michael Roberts from Kevin Grissom for six after a failed extra point attempt. North Forney answered in less than a minute on their next possession on a Kyle Hogwood 65-yard run.

South Garland would score two more times in the 1st quarter on a seven-yard run and a two-yard run off the heals of Brodis Mathews and Grissom, respectively. North Forney’s Khari Dickinson rushed 56 yards to contest South Garland with no time remaining in the 1st quarter.

Mathews would catch a 33-yard pass from Grissom in the 2nd quarter to send South Garland into halftime with a 24-14 lead.

North Forney scored two uncontested touchdowns in the 3rd quarter to take back the lead off a Jermaine Gardner four-yard rush and a Lorenzo Wright 20-yard pass from Colby Suits.

In the 4th quarter, South Garland and North Forney went on a nail-bitter back-and-forth scoring run with South Garland scoring on a Mathews eight-yard reception, North Forney scoring on a Gardner one-yard run, South Garland contesting on a Vincent Jordan two-yard run, and Suits with a rushing touchdown of his own off the goal line.

Suits passed for 192 yards, threw one touchdown, and rushed for a second. Gardner led the Falcons rushing yardage with 118 on 25 carries and two touchdowns, Dickinson completed 75 on 11 carries and a touchdown, and Kyle Hogwood carried the ball twice for 66 yards and a touchdown of his own.

Receiving, Wright caught six passes for 121 yards and a touchdown, Hogwood completed two for 30, Charles Fuller caught two for 17, Barclay Ford caught one for 12, and Dickinson caught one for 12.

North Forney will next play West Mesquite High School (1-3, 3-4) on Friday, October 23, 2015, at City Bank Stadium.
